A long-form cooperative adventure where conversation is part of the route. It is meant for a regular group, whether that group is two people or a noisy dozen.

Field note 01

Sort out the host before anyone loads in.

Big Walk is not a drop-in lobby game. The host owns the save, the world adapts to the group size you choose, and there is no matchmaking. That makes the first ten minutes of decisions more important than the first ten minutes of gameplay.

  1. Pick the player with the steadiest connection to host.
  2. Choose 2, 3, or 4+ player world based on who will reliably be there.
  3. Test in-game voice and text before leaving the spawn area.
  4. Decide who will keep hosting when the original host cannot play.

Multiplayer

A long walk works better with a little planning.

Big Walk does not offer random matchmaking. Arrange a regular group, decide who will keep the save, then use the in-game voice or text chat so the world's communication puzzles still make sense.

  1. 01

    Ask who is hosting

The host starts the session and keeps the save. When they end it, everyone disconnects, so the same person should host when your group returns.

  2. 02

Look for the active friend game

If you are friends on the same platform, the host's active game appears in the friend-game list. Quickest route for most Steam and console players.

  3. 03

Use a Join Code when the list is empty

The host can share the short code for that session. Mac App Store players use this route because Game Center is not supported on that build.

  4. 04

Choose the world size with regulars in mind

Treat the 2 / 3 / 4+ choice as the smallest group you expect for the session, not a cap on who can visit.

Platforms

Four ways to buy it, and one catch.

Crossplay covers every combination of platforms, so where you buy it does not decide who you can play with. What it does decide is how people get into your session.

Field communication

Nine things you can carry.

House House named the tools in their own press material. Anything beyond this list is somebody guessing.

Voice falloff by tool

Proximity chat drops off with distance. What you carry moves the line.

  • Unaided voice fades fast
  • Megaphone further, one way
  • Walkie-talkie crackles, any range
  • Through a wall muffled

Achievements

Where groups actually stop.

Steam publishes global unlock rates for all 12 achievements. They map the shape of the game better than any walkthrough.
